What a great event! Thank you to all that supported the library and the chamber of commerce for Business After Hours. The evening was a success with the help of the Bishopville Book Club as well as the people that came to show support to Tom Poland and Tammy Davis. It was a pleasure to spend time with both authors and we look forward to having them join us again!
Please join us as we host After Hours with the chamber! This is your opportunity to come and meet the authors while enjoying an evening of fellowship and refreshments!
Downtown is the place to be for witches, candy, and Halloween fun! Shops will be open, so stop in for a treat. You never know who you might meet!
What a fun time painting Pete the Cat with Susan Ciotti. Just one more treat for our summer readers!
Our first adventure was to Lee State Park with Ranger Laura Kirk for a scavenger hunt! We began on the wetland boardwalk in search of all things nature. From dragonflies to birds, there was no shortage of wildlife on our trek. Our adventure continued to the pond where we were able to see aquatic life up close. Children giggled and squealed with anticipation as Ranger Laura filled the containers with critters from both land and water. Then, thanks to the artesian wells, we took some time to rehydrate and cool down from the heat. After lunch, we ended our day roasting marshmallows over a fire. Everyone had a good time, thanks to Ranger Laura. She went above and beyond with the children and their parents to teach them about the exciting things to see right here at our very own Lee State Park. [...]

The feelin’ is gettin’ so intense,
That the young Virginia creepers
Have been huggin’ the bejeepers
Outa all the mornin’ glories on the fence!
Because it’s June…

News! Excitement! New partnerships! It is all good at the library this month. We are right in the middle of our sign up period for the 2017 Summer Reading Program. We are hoping for a record for this year’s program. The kick off will be June 9th at the Lee State Park at 10:00 AM At that time our friend, Ranger Laura Kirk, will conduct one of her famous field trips and then we will have lunch in the pavilion. Over the years, this has become one of the most popular programs. What’s not to love – a day in the fresh air and sunshine and then lunch. [...]
